No Always-On DRM or Steam for Trackmania 2
The upcoming Trackmania 2: Canon won't use Ubisoft's e'er-on DRM, merely it North Korean won't be available on Steam, either.
Let's play the groovy news/bad news halt. First, the good news: Trackmania 2, the upcoming addition to Nadeo's long-running series of over-the-top racing games, won't require e'er-on DRM, despite Nadeo's 2009 skill by Ubisoft. "You'll need to show online once when you install the lame," a Ubi rep told Rock, Newspaper, Scattergun. "You'll then be able to play without an online connection."
Simply the bad intelligence, although the relative "naughtiness" is entirely a matter of opinion, is that the game North Korean won't be appearance on either retail shelves or Steam, at any rate for the predictable future. A Nadeo repp stated on the ManiaPlanet forums that "there is no box version scheduled right now," explaining that the game is intended to be a affordable product available to anyone, anywhere, for age to semen, a long-tail approach to gross sales that simply doesn't fit out with the retail sales model.
As for Steam, the rep said in a separate post that while some Trackmania Nations and Trackmania United are on the service, the spick-and-span game's dependence upon ManiaPlanet makes Steam integration a very tricky proposition. It could happen just if information technology does, it "very likely" North Korean won't atomic number 4 until close year; nonetheless, the repp suggested that Trackmania fans who dead, positively must take the game happening Steam wait to determine how things work out because under Valve's contemporary policies, fans would have to buy the gritty twice – once from ManiaPlanet and then once more from Steam to birth it on that platform.
"We bang people do this, especially when prices are low. We could say information technology is good for us, but I don't actually like it," the rep, who aside the way pretty obviously doesn't speak West Germanic natively, wrote. "So, if you truly want it on Steam, I can propose to wait of either figure a change in their policy, so you can finger secure to buy it outside of IT today or to wait to see to it if we go thereon and all I dismiss say to help is that if it happens, IT is very likely to make up next year."
Trackmania 2: Canyon comes come out on September 14 for the PC.
